sistibly evokes the Dolce Vita, the Spi-
der "Duetto" its successor, was made
famous - among others - by the Gra-
duate and Dustin Hoffman, released in
1967…
After having lost much of its purity
and its prestige over the different series
which followed, Alfa Romeo will suc-
ceed, for this 4
th
series launched in
1990, with a return to its roots and
will eliminate all disgraceful accessories
that have weighed down the silhouette
of the 3
rd
series.
The bumpers are now integrated in the
bodywork with the same hue, the logo
placed on the grill is restyled, the side
skirts are replaced with thinner cover,
the mirrors are electric, adjustable from
the inside and the rear lights are re-
drawn.
The upholstery is beige in color or black
with inserts of suede. The seats are
slightly pushed back, and the power-as-
sisted steering is delivered in this series.
This last series will be produced
in18,456 examples and will be mar-
keted with three engines: 1.6L to car-
burettors and 2.0 i.e. with or without
catalytic converter.
Last series of a car produced by Alfa
Romeo (to date) to dispose of propul-
sion, except for the rare Alfa Romeo
SZ / RZ, the Duetto will be replaced
in 1994 by the Spider GTV series
